CIAA files corrupt case against former minister Neupane

Kathmandu, Nepal: The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA), the constitutional anti graft body of the country, has filed a corruption case at the Special Court on Monday against 14 individuals including former Minister for Women, Children and Social Welfare Badri Prasad Neupane over the fun-park lease contract case.
 
Chure Bhawar Rastriya Ekata party leader Neupane, who was the Minister for Women, Children and Social Welfare in Babu Ram Bhattarai-led government, has been accused of embezzling Rs 315,217,675.20 by taking decision arbitrarily in the capacity of the chairperson of the Social Welfare Council (CWC) to give the Bhrikuti Mandap of Kathmandu based land for the Fun Park in the lease violating the public procurement act. 
 
CWC board members, directors and legal advisors including operators and management members of the Fun Park have also been alleged of misappropriation without calling for the tender.  Others alleged officials including former minister Neupane have been accused of embezzling Rs 315,217,675.20 each. The CIAA has demanded action under the Clause 3 (1) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 2002.
