Kathmandu, Nepal, June 20, 2019: The Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA), the only constitutional body responsible to check the corruption, has on Thursday filed a corruption case against 13 officials including the Director General of the Department of Food Technology and Quality Control (DFTQC) Sanjiv Kumar Karna.
The CIAA has filed the case charging them of involving in the financial irregularities in the procurement of mobile laboratory van for the Prime Minister Agriculture Modernization Project.
Others officials implicated in the corruption case are under-secretary at the Prime Minister Agriculture Modernization Project Ganesh Prasad Chalise and accountant Balaram Pokharel.
Senior food research officer Purna Chandra Wosti, section officer Bhagirath Acharya, accountant Rabita Shrestha, assistant officer Guru Dutta Gautam, Project Director Narahari Prasad Ghimire, senior agriculture engineer Saroj Adhikari, senior planning officer Tilak Raj Chaulagain, Project Director Laxman Prasad Poudel, senior monitoring and evaluation officer Indra Hari Poudel and supplier agent Prabin Kunwar have also been implicated in the corruption charge.
The CIAA has sought fine worth Rs. 124.46 million from DG Karna though it is claimed that total amount embezzled in worth Rs. 248.095 million.
