The government on Sunday endorsed its policies and programmes for the fiscal year 2017/18. A Cabinet meeting held this morning at the Prime Minister's official residence in Baluwatar also decided to present the policies and programmes before President Bidya Devi Bhandari later this evening for final approval.

"The policies and programmes have accommodated large-scale projects including that of national priority, besides allocating budget to conclude the local level elections and for other day-to-day government works," said Minister for Information and Communications Surendra Kumar Karki.

President Bhandari will table the programmes and policies under partial budget to the Legislature-Parliament within May 24, the minister said. He also said the policies and programmes have focused on expediting national pride projects and reconstruction while prioritising the implementation of the constitution.

"Opposition parties including CPN-UML have some reservations about the budget. We are in constant talks with them. Yesterday dialogues were held between three major political parties in this regard and they are moving forward positively," he said. RSS
