6 suspected ISIS flags hoisted by unknown person in Assam

Guwahati : A shocking incident occurred in lower Assam’s Goalpara district on Wednesday morning, when local people had found 6 suspected ISIS flags with ‘IS NE’ written on them hoisted by unknown persons on the river bank near the Goalpara town police outpost.

According to the reports, the local people, who were out for morning walk on the river bank, had found the black colour flags had Arabic language written on them with ‘IS NE’ might be a short form for Islamic State North East.

Following the incident, local people had informed police and police had taken the flags down.

However, it is yet to know who hoisted the flags at the area.

A local people, who found the flags said that, when we noticed it immediately informed police.

“We had noticed that, six black colour flags with IS NE written, which were hoisted here. We had immediately informed police and police took the flags down,” a local person said.

Meanwhile, police has started investigation into the matter.

The Intelligence Bureau (IB) has alerted Assam and other NE states that, some Islamic terror groups are planning to establish their base and footprints in the region.
