Guwahati, Feb 4 : At least eight people were killed in three different road mishaps in Assam in past 24 hours.
Four people were killed and one woman injured in a car accident in Assam’s Morigaon district last night.
The accident took place on the National Highway – 37 at Makaria area under Neli police station near Jagiraod where a speedy Maruti Swift car had lost control and hit a roadside culvert.
According to the police, the vehicle came from Guwahati to Nagaon and four people including the driver of the vehicle died on spot and one woman injured.
The injured woman was sent to Guwahati for treatment.
The deceased persons were identified as Bini Kumar, Sharath, Gitanjali Devi and Gobi.
“The Maruti Swift car came from Guwahati to Nagaon had lost control and hit a roadside culvert at Makaria area. Four people were died and one woman was injured in the accident,” a police officer said.
On the other hand, two bikers were killed when a speedy dumper hit a motorcycle at Doboka area in Assam’s Hojai district.
In the third incident, two people died at Rangia area in Kamrup district while head on collision between two vehicles.
