Media interaction, OPD clinic and film screening at press club

Guwahati: Pakistan’s well-known journalist, broadcaster, expert on policy advocacy, strategic and corporate communications, Munir Ahmed will  interact with the member-journalists of Guwahati Press Club on Friday (9 November 2018). The proactive journalist will be available through video conferencing from Islamabad between 3 and 5 pm (Indian time) to answer various media queries.

A regular contributor to Daily Times, radio and participant to programs of  PTV and other national news channels, Ahmed inspired the authority to adopt Pakistan’s first ever National Conservation Strategy, National Housing Policy, National Environment Protection Act, National Sustainable Development Strategy etc. He is the founder
of Development Communications Network and also Pakistan Mountain Festival. Fluent in Urdu and English, Ahmed penned many short stories as well.

Ahmed is expected to talk about Pakistani media in general, Islamabad’s traditional approach to India and possibilities ahead of both the neighbors. Press club members are requested to participate in the program.

Film screening: Paying tributes to Dr Bhupen Hazarika, Guwahati Press Club will showcase a Hindi classic (Aarop) at 5 pm on 10 November 2018 starring Vinod Khanna, Saira Banu,  Vinod Mehra, Bharat Bhushan,Satyen Kappu, Johnny Walker etc. Enriched with the story of a brave newspaper editor, the 1974 Bollywood movie was directed by Atma Ram, brother of legendary film maker Guru Dutt.

A legendary Assamese music personality Bhupen-da scored the music for the movie where Kishor Kumar, Lata Mangeshkar, Prabodh Chandra Dey (Manna Dey), Asha Bhosle, Lakshmi Shankar etc lent their voices. Songs like ‘Naino mein darpan hai’, ‘Jab se tune bansi bajaya’, ‘He jai yashoda nandan’ etc remain popular till today among the mass.

OPD clinic: Assam’s well known Dispur Hospitals will conduct the next media OPD clinic at Guwahati Press Club on Saturday. The clinic, starting at 3 pm, will remain open for member-journalists till 5 pm. The participants will get the opportunity to consult with the practicing doctors and also check their blood pressures free of cost
in the brief clinic.
