NSCN (R) militant nab in Arunachal Pradesh

Guwahati, November 21 : Security forces on Tuesday had apprehended a hardcore militant belonging to NSCN (R) in Arunachal Pradesh, officials said.
 
Kohima based Defence PRO Colonel Chiranjeet Konwer said that, based on intelligence input, Assam Rifles's Jairampur Battalion had launched operation at Miao area about information that a militant trying to terrorize and extort money at the area, the security personnel nabbed a self styled Lieutenant and Area Commander of the outfit from the area.
 
The nabbed militant was identified as Tikkam Mossang and security personnel had recovered a pistol, live ammunition, Rs 20,000 of extortion money and other incriminating evidence in possession from him.
 
"Jairampur Battalion under the aegis of DAO DIVISION has been carrying out relentless operations in south Arunachal Pradesh to keep the area peaceful and out of clutches of insurgents and this apprehension will go a long way in creating fear among the anti national elements in the area," the Defence PRO said.
 
"Post spot interrogation the militant admitted to being active part of the banned outfit. The Self Styled Lieutenant Joined NSCN(IM) in 2003 and defected to NSCN(R) in 2008 and has been active part of the banned outfit ever since. The militant has been actively involved in extortion activities in Miao area," Colonel Konwer said.
 
Security Forces have been carrying out aggressive operations in the South Arunachal Pradesh and this apprehension has struck a huge blow to the extortion activities being carried out by the underground cadres of the group in the area.
