Guwahati, December 13 : After Paresh Baruah led ULFA (I) militants shot dead a Village Defence Force (VDF) president and his son in Upper Assam’s Tinsukia district, suspected militants shot dead another person in lower Assam’s Kokrajhar district on Tuesday night, officials said on Wednesday.
According to the reports, an armed militant group had killed a person identified as Gahain Murmu at Gossaigaon area in the district on Tuesday night, while the person sleeping outside of his house.
Top police officials had rushed to the area and started investigation into the incident.
On December 11, at least three ULFA (I) militants dressed in army fatigues had shot dead a VDF president and his son at Simaluguri area near Bordumsa and Kakopathar in Tinsukia district.
Following the incident, ULFA (I) had claimed responsibility over the killing incident and said that, the two men were working as spies for army and Assam police.
On the other hand, several organizations including All Assam Students Union (AASU), Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuba Chatra Parishad (AJYCP) had staged protest against the killing incident and demanded the Assam government to arrest the hunters immediately.
