TMC opens party office in Guwahati

Guwahati : Mamata Banerjee’s All India Trinamool Congress (AITMC) on Thursday had opened an office in Guwahati.

After Mamata Banerjee’s controversial statement over the National Register of Citizens (NRC) updation process in Assam, the Assam unit of All India Trinamool Congress (AITMC) had resigned from the party.

But, the TMC is again trying to make its strength in Assam as the party had inaugurated an office in Guwahati.

The TMC also formed an interim executive body of Assam unit.

Senior minister of Mamata Banerjee-led West Bengal government, Firhad Hakim had inaugurated the party office in Guwahati in presence of party workers, supporters.

After publishing the complete draft of NRC by excluding over 40 lakh people, Mamata Banerjee said that - the NRC will lead to a ‘civil war’ like situation.

Mamata’s controversial statement had triggered massive protests in Assam and several leaders of TMC’s Assam unit including president had resigned from the party.

Apart from it, a TMC delegation team had been detained at Silchar airport, who had arrived the Barak valley town to take stock the situation.

Firhad Hakim said that, he again visited in Assam after the Silchar airport incident to strength the party in the state.

“TMC will become an alternative party to BJP in Assam. We opposed divide and rule politics,” the West Bengal minister said.

Firhad Hakim alleged that, BJP and RSS are always trying to play divide and rule politics.
