Kathmandu, Nepal: Chief Election Commissioner (ECE) Dr. Ayodhee Prasad Yadav has claimed that all the results of the first phase of local level elections would be finalized within a week.

CEC Yadav has made the claim while speaking at an interaction program organized by the Reporters Club Nepal in the Capital on Wednesday.

The claim of the CEC Yadav has come in the mean time when there are widespread criticisms for the snail pace vote counting process, which has not only irritated the voters to know about the results but also fueled various suspicions.

I am also highly concerned over the delay on the vote counting, so would like to assure all that the Election Commission (EC) would publish all the results of the first phase of local elections within a week, Yadav said.

There is possibility to publish results within a week as EC has already counted the ballot papers of 25 districts and managed additional staffers to expedite the vote counting process, Yadav said.

During the function CEC Yadav also urged all to hold patience for at least a week to know the results of the first phase of local polls.
