EC makes public the schedule for National Assembly Elections

Kathmandu, Nepal: The Election Commission (EC) has published the calendar for the election of National Assembly members, which was already scheduled for coming February 7. 

According to the EC, the voters' list will be published on January 21. Likewise, the filing of nominations is scheduled for January 24 and distribution of election symbol is scheduled for January 29. The voting time will start from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm on February 7. 

As per the existing constitutional provisions, rural municipality chair and vice-chair and municipality mayor and deputy mayor are the eligible voters for the provincial assembly members. 

With the elections 56 members comprising eight each from the seven provinces including at least three women and one marginalized community’s member will be elected as the National Assembly members. In the 59-member National Assembly, three members will be elected by the President on the recommendation of the Government.
