Kathmandu, Nepal: Former Home Minister and CPN Maoist Center leader Janardan Sharma faces severe safety threats at his own home districts.
Sharma, who is also the Minister without Portfolio and candidate for the election to the House of Representative from West Rukum, was attacked by two explosive bombs on Friday.
An unidentified group had hurled two improvised explosive devices (IEDs) at the vehicle of Sharma at Goiri in West Rukum but none was hurt in the incident, the Rukum Police has said.
It is said that the unidentified group had hurled the bombs at the vehicle while Sharma was coming to Simli of Sani Bheri rural municipality from Chaurjahari municipality.
Following the incident, Nepal police has managed tight security for the safety of Sharma.
The incident is taken importantly as it is believed that the Netra Bikram Chanda led Maoist, the splinter faction of the CPN Maoist Center, would have involved in the attack.
The Party had been threatening to the CPN Maoist Center’s leaders alleging them for betraying the people on the name of people’s movement.
Rukum was the district where the then CPN Maoist had launched its so-called people’s revolution.
