Haritalika Teej is being marked

Kathmandu, Nepal: Haritalika Teej, one of the greatest festivals of Hindus women, is being marked across the glove including in Nepal by worshiping God Shiva at various Shiva shrine. 

Hundreds of thousand Hindues women have thronged at various Shive shrine including the Pashupatinath Temple in Kathmandu to worship God Shiva. Hindus woman across the glove used to mark the festival with much more fanfare. 

Teej used to be celebrated primarily by the women and girl dedicating to the union of Goddess Parvati and Lord Shiva. Hence on Teej, married women pray for the long life and well-being of their husbands while unmarred girl pray for the excellent husband.

According to Hindu mythology, Goddess Parvati took 108 re-births until Lord Shiva finally married her. Hariyali Teej celebrates the determination of the Goddess Pravati. 

This day onwards, the Goddess declared this day as auspicious for women and those fasting will find blessings in their married life. Most of the women observe fast and visit temples to offer special prayers.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has extended best wishes to all Nepali sisters on the occasion of Haritalika Teej today. The Teej festival may inspire all women to move ahead in unison, Prime Minister Oli has stated in the message.
