Hou Yanqi is arriving Nepal as new Chinese ambassador

Kathmandu, Nepal: Ms. Hou Yanqi has been named as China’s next ambassador to Nepal. The Chinese government has communicated to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA about its decision to nominate Yanqi as the new ambassador seeking agreemo.


Senior diplomat Hou will replace incumbent ambassador Yu Hong. Ms. Yu, who has been serving as the ambassador envoy to Nepal since November 2016, is returning back to country after completing her full term as ambassador to Nepal. 

To be appointed new ambassador Ms. Hou is currently serving as one of the four deputy director generals at the Department of Asian Affairs under the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs. 

Ms. Hou will be appointed as next ambassador to Nepal from the Chinese President once the Nepalese side approves the agreemo. It is said that Ms.   

Incumbent ambassador Yu’s tenure is considered as successful as she had played significant role for strengthening bilateral relationship between the two neighboring countries. During her tenure, Nepal not only joined the China-proposed Belt and Road Initiative in May 2017 but also made some major landmark developments.
