Voters, the member of the federal parliament, will cast their votes between 10:00 am and 3:00 pm on March 13 to elect the third president of the country.

It is likely that incumbent president Bidya Devi Bhandari will be elected again as the president as the CPN-UML has endorsed her candidacy for the next term of Office amid the internal differences.

A meeting of the standing committee held at the Prime Minister’s official residence at Baluwatar on Tuesday decided to give continuity to the candidacy of Bhandari for the next term.

Senior leader and former Prime Minister Jhala Nath Khanal was also interested to be candidate for the post of president.

It is likely that incumbent vice president Nanda Bahadur Pun will also continue the post as the CPN Maoist Centre has also decided to nominate him as the candidate for the post of Vice President.

As the CPN UML and the CPN Maoist deserves comfortable majority in the federal parliament, the candidacy forwarded by the two major communist parties-CPN UML and the Maoist Center will easily be elected in any posts.
