Indian External Affairs Minister Swaraj’s visit to Nepal did nothing to unify party with UML: Maoist Chair Dahal
  Kathmandu, Nepal      February 09 2018

Chitwan, Nepal: CPN Maoist Center Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal has claimed that Indian External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj’s recently concluded visit to Nepal has not affected unification process between the CPN UML and his party in any context.

Speaking at a press meet organized by Press Centre, Bharatpur chapter, at Bharatpur Airport on Friday, Dahal claimed that party unification process would end soon. However, he did not specified about the timeframe to end the unification process between the two parties.

Dahal’s remark has come at the time when there is a speculation that the prospect of unity among the UML and the Maoist is jeopardized after Indian external affair minister Swaraj made Nepal visit last week.

As the Maoist has demanded to end the unity process before formation of the new government, the ongoing talks between the UML and Maoist have not brought any results.

However, Dahal’s remarks of Monday indicate that the CPN Maoist Center has adopted flexible stand even to agree to unite the party after formation of the government.

Responding to the questions raised by the media persons regarding the government formation process, Dahal claimed that the government formation process will start as soon as the Election Commission (EC) submits the name list of parliamentarians to the President.

Likewise, in the context of the unity process he said the process of the government formation and party unification can go side by side.  I want to complete the talks of party unification before formation of government, but both the processes can go side by side if that is not possible,  Dahal said.
