Kathmandu, Nepal: Journalist Ashok Silwal recently attended a joint conference of Karnataka Union of Working Journalists Association and Mysore Journalists Association organized in Mysore as the special chief guest. Over 2,500 journalists participated in the conference which was inaugurated by HD Kumaraswamy, the chief minister of Karnataka State of India, according to Silwal. Silwal was also invited for presentation in a session named 'Video Journalism: New Challenges'.
There were sessions on politics and fake news, media and politics, self-regulation of mass media, media and digitization, changing world of photo journalism, among others. Author Silwal is also the goodwill ambassador of Langtang Valley.
Dignitaries like Former Chief Ministers of Karnataka-- Siddharamaiah, BS Yedurappa, Deputy Chief Minister G Parameshwar, Higher Education Minister of Karnataka GT Devegauda, Shree Shree Shree Shivarahtri Deshikendra Swamiji, Shree Shree Shree Nirmalananda Swamiji, Shree Shree Shree Charukrithi Bhattaraka Swamiji, Indian Federation of Working Journalist Chapter President B V Mallikarjunaiah, General Secretary Paramananda Pandey, among others, were also present in the program.
Daily Mirror of Sri Lanka's news editor KK Kariyakarwana and photojournalist Gitika Talukdar, among others, were invited as guests.
Other attraction of the conference was the exhibition of old cameras, printing press, television and radio sets, among others.
