Kathmandu, Nepal, Aug 5, 2019: Madhesi Commission has made tremendous progress within the short span of time.
The commission, formed in November 2018, has made necessary fundamentals to achieve its desired goal and objectives though the government has yet to appoint four commissioners.
The government had formed the commission with the mandate of recommending suggestions to the government to formulate the required policies and programs for the social, cultural and economic development of the Madhesi community.
Vijay Kumar Dutta is the chairperson of the commission. He was appointed in January 2019. Following his appointment, various programs and policies were forwarded by setting the specific time frame.
The commission has on Monday made public the details of the annual achievements and expenditure as well.
Organizing a press conference on Monday, Hari Bakhati, spokesperson of the commission revealed that the commission spent over Rs 30 million to conduct a series of training and orientation related programs in various districts of Teria region in the last fiscal year- 2075-076.
According to spokesperson Bakhati, the commission spent Rs 356, 81168 to conduct training and orientation programs in various districts of Province 1, 2, 5 and 7 during the Fiscal Year 2075/76 BS.
Likewise, the commission has also prepared a radio jingle to raise public awareness by spending Rs 400,000 during the fiscal year.
