Nepali Congress hosts tea reception today

Kathmandu Nepal: Main opposition Nepali Congress (NC) organized a tea reception on the occasion of Vijaya Dashami, Deepawali, Nepal Sambat and Chhath festivals at the party central office, Sanepa, Lalitpur on Friday. 

NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba, senior leader Ramchandra Poudel, general secretary Dr. Shashanka Koirala, vice president Bimalendra Nidhi, senior leader Bijaya Kumar Gachchhadar and many others central leaders have attended to welcome the guests in the tea reception.

The NC has invited about 100,000 people from different walks of lives including various leaders from different political parties, senior officials, diplomats and others to the tea party. Likewise, various district committees of the party has also organized tea party at their district party offices. 

Though the Nepali Congress used to host the tea reception on Kojagrat Poornima, the concluding day of the Dashain festival, each year, it was delayed this year due to demise of its leader and former minister Chakra Prasad Banstola.

The Nepali Congress has been continuing the tradition of hosting a tea reception since 2035 BS. The party had hosted first tea reception after its prominent leader BP Koirala returned home following his eight years in self-exile in India in 2033 BS with the national reconciliation policy.
