Newly appointed CoAS Thapa assumes office

Kathmandu, Nepal: President Bidya Devi Bhandari has conferred insignia to the newly appointed Chief of Army Staff (CoAS) Purna Chandra Thapa amid a special function organized at Sheetal Niwas on Sunday.

Thapa was appointed as CoAS after erstwhile CoAS Rajendra Chhetri retired from the post.  Newly appointed CoAs Thapa will assume command of the Nepali Army rightly after the appointment in the post.

During the function Vice President Nanda Bahadur Pun, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Defence Ishwar Pokharel, Ministers, chiefs and office bearers of the constitutional bodies and other high ranking government officials were also present on the occasion.
