Kathmandu, Nepal, 04 July, 2019: It is official that ‘notorious gangster’ turned politician Rajiv Gurung aka Deepak Manange has joined in the government head Nepal Communist Party (NCP).
Manange, who is an elected member of the provincial assembly of Gandaki Province, joined the ruling head NCP amid a function held in Pokhara on Thursday.
Chief Minister of Gandaki Province Prithvi Subba Gurung welcomed Gurung to the party by handing over the party's statute.
Manange was elected as a provincial assembly member from Manang (B) as an independent candidate in the backing of the NCP.
Manange was sentenced by the then Appellate Court, Patan for five years on the charge of attempted murder. However, he was released from jail following a Supreme Court order in December last year.
He was released from Jail after depositing Rs 27,375 in bail as demanded by the Supreme Court.
