Kathmandu, Nepal, 29, August, 2019: The Advertisement Bill-2076 BS has been endorsed the meeting of the House of Representatives (HoR) on Thursday.
The bill relating to the advertisement is first-of-its-kind in Nepal that envisages proportional advertisement distribution system and clean feed. Though the government has its own claim, the concerned experts have raised questions over the motive to bring the advertisement bill.
The bill presented by the Minister for Communications and Information Technology Gokul Prasad Baskota was endorsed with the thumping majority. However, the lawmakers from the main opposition Nepali Congress (NC) raised questions over the motive behind the bill.
Responding to the queries raised by the parliamentarians, Minister Baskota claimed that bill was brought to provide advertisements to all the media proportionally. The government will prove through the action, he said.
There is no need to be worry that the government would only provide the advertisements to the media favoring the government, minister Baskota said.
