Parliamentary Hearing Special Committee turns down acting Chief Justice Deepak Raj Joshee’s name for the post of Chief Justice

Kathmandu, Nepal: Parliamentary Hearing Special Committee has turned down the name of Acting Chief Justice Deepak Raj Joshee for the post of Chief Justice. His name was rejected by two-thirds majority of votes. 

A meeting of the committee held on Friday turned down the name of Acting Chief Justice Deepak Raj Joshee for the post of Chief Justice through the voting. The Nepali Congress lawmakers had boycotted the voting process. 

As the lawmakers have failed to make a univocal voice for not to endorse the name of Chief Justice Nominee Deepak Raj Joshee, the lawmakers represent to the Parliamentary Hearing Special Committee made the decision through the votes. 

With the rejection of the Joshee's name, justices Cholendra Shamsher Rana and Om Prakash Mishra are now in front line for the post of chief justice on seniority basis.   However it would take more days as the constitutional council has to recommend name to appoint in the post of chief justice.
