Political, religious and armed groups pose security challenges to the country: Home Minister Thapa

Kathmandu, Nepal: Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa has said that political, religious and armed groups been been posing security challenges to the country.

Speaking at a press conference organized at the Ministry of Home Affairs in Singha Durbar on Wednesday, Home Minister Thapa said these three groups are posing internal security challenges to the country.

According to him, security meeting held in all the seven provinces recently had reached on the conclusion to this effect. With the identification of the security challenges, the government has adopted specific strategy to dismantle the groups that has been posing security challenges to the country, Home Minister Thapa said. 

Terming the Biplab-led Communist Party of Nepal (CPN) as a politically extremist group Home Minister Thapa said that the group has been posing political as well as security challenge by forming a parallel government and launching different unlawful activities across the country.

Likewise, CK Raut, Goit and Jwala led armed groups have posed security challenges in the country. 

According to him, some Hindu groups have also been posing security as well as religious challenges by launching strikes demanding Hindu state.
