Prime Minister underlines the need of extra vigilant of security forces to prevent attacks on the election candidates

 NEPALGUNJ, Nov 14 : Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has stressed that the security bodies be extra vigilant henceforth to prevent attacks on the election candidates from repeating, saying the incidents of attacks on candidates comprise a serious lapse on their part. 

 
Addressing the Province 5 and Province 6 level security seminar here today, the PM said, "The government will not lag behind bringing to book any person or group challenging election-related issues including the healthy competition among the political parties and the rights of the people to vote in fear-free environment, among others." 
 
The Prime Minister said that the government has strengthened the security system in a planned way for making the election free, fair and fear-free. 
 
"It is the responsibility of the government to create an environment for making the election peaceful, and I am confident that we will get the required cooperation from the government and non-government bodies and the Nepali people as well in fulfilling this responsibility," PM Deuba, who is also handling the Home Ministry portfolio, said. 
 
Reiterating that the government was committed to holding the House of Representatives and the State Assembly elections fixed for two phases on the set date, he expressed his conviction the Nepali people too will cooperate in the conduction of the elections that are in the national priority. 
 
Secretary at the Ministry of Home Affairs Mohan Krishna Sapkota shared that the security for the elections has been put in place with three layers security system. He stressed that the security bodies should be extra cautious regarding the sporadic incidents directed towards disturbing the elections. 
 
Spokesperson of the Ministry of Home Affairs Narayan Prasad Sharma Dawadi said such security seminars have already been held in Janakpur and Pokhara and that all the security bodies have been mobilized I the election as per the security strategic plan. 
 
High-ranking security officials from the Ministry of Home Affairs, Nepal Police, the Armed Police Force, Nepal Army, the National Investigation Department, the regional administration office and the district administration office are attended the seminar. 
 
The seminar will hold assessment deliberation and make an analysis of the security scenario after the presentation on the district-level security plans by the officials from the participating 16 districts. RSS
