Kathmandu, Nepal, July 15, 2019: The ruling head Nepal Communist Party (NCP) has repeatedly been courting into controversies on ranges of issues including the performance of the NCP Co-chair KP Sharma Oli led government on dealing the diplomatic apparatus of the country.
The invitation to a team of Venezuelan youths, led by Nicolás Ernesto Maduro Guerra, the son of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro, has raised serious question marks over the votive of the government.
Senior leaders of the ruling head NCP have been engaging on the meeting with the ‘controversial Venezuelan leader’s son without proper justifications of the invitation in the mean time when the government has failed even to deal over the letters sent from the US and Indian embassy in Kathmandu in some diplomatic issues.
The initiation sent to the Venezuelan youths, led by Nicolás has sparked controversies within the ruling head NCP. It is said that NCP Co-chair and Prime Minister KP Oli is not informed about the invitation of Nicolas and rounds of meetings as well.
‘Neither the Prime Minister and his royals nor the government officials scheduled any meeting with him as the government has nothing to do with it,’ a leader of the party, who used to claim himself as loyal to Prime Minister Oli said even urging not link this visit with the government.
In last February, NCP Co-chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal had issued a statement siding with the embattled regime of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and denouncing the US for its ‘interference’ at a time when Prime Minister Oli was out of the country.
The issue had put the government in a difficulty after US Embassy in Kathmandu had asked the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stating that whether Dahal’s statement reflected Nepal’s official position regarding Venezuela.
Even though the Ministry of Foreign Affairs had issued a statement, it had failed to impress the US as the statement was tried to distance itself from Dahal’s statement.
Reliable source close to the NCP claims that Youth Association of Nepal (YAN) Coordinator Ram Prasad Sapkota aka Dipshikha, who represents the erstwhile CPN (Maoist Center) led by Dahal had invited Nicolás to visit Nepal.
The Oli led faction of the NCP suspects that the invitation to a team of Venezuelan youths, led by Nicolás would have motivated to drag the government into controversies.
It is said that NCP leaders including Co-Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Party Secretariat Members Bamdev Gautam and Narayan Kaji Shrestha and a number of central level leaders, YAN and All Nepal National Free Students Union (ANNFSU) have already visited the Nicolas led Venezuelan youths delegation.
