Six Killed In a Chopper Crash In Meghan Rural Municipality In Nuwakot District

Kathmandu, Nepal: At least six persons killed when an Altitude Air helicopter with sign AS350 B3e crashed in Meghan rural municipality in Nuwakot district on Saturday morning.

The deceased have been identified as senior captain Nischal KC, Japanese national Hiromi Komatsu 68, Dilli Bahadur Gurung, 40 of Ramechhap, Hira Sherpa, 37 of Dolakha, Sunil Tamang, 22 of Sindhupalchowk and Chhowang Nurbu of Gorkha.  Lho Ani Dolma Diki of Gorkha was rescued alive from the crash. 

A total of seven people including Captain Nischal KC were on board in the ill-fated helicopter.

The chopper that was supposed to land at TIA at 8:18 had lost contact at around 8:00am taking a patient and the family members. 

Though the exact reason behind the crash is yet to be established, it is believed that technical error would have occurred in the engine of the helicopter as it was forcibly landed in a dense forest area.
