Voting begins to elect the third President of the country

Kathmandu, Nepal: Voting for the election of the president has begun at the federal parliament building, New Baneshwor, to elect the country’s third president. 

Members of the federal parliament and province assembly are going to cast their votes to elect the president. According to the Parliament secretariat, the elections will be continued till 3 pm today. 
Incumbent President, Bidya Devi Bhandari, former leader of the CPN UML and Nepali Congress leader Kumari Laxmi Rai are in the race for the post of president.

It is likely that incumbent president Bhandari will be re-elected with an overwhelming majority as she is backed by the ruling left alliance- CPN-UML and CPN Maoist Centre.
