Kathmandu, Nepal, September 04, 2020:  Finance Minister Yubaraj Khatiwada, who also looks after the ministerial portfolio of the Ministry of the Communication and Information Technology, has tendered his resignation from the posts on Friday.

Khatiwada tendered his resignation to Prime Minister KP Oli by reaching at the official resident of Prime Minister Oli at Baluwatar on Friday evening. Before he went to Baluwatar to tender his resignation, he took part in a farewell program organized at the finance ministry.

Though his two and half year long tenure as Finance Minister was highly criticized not only from the business communities and others but also from the cadres of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP), he claimed while addressing the farewell program that he laid a foundation of the country's economy even at the difficult time.

After the end of the two year term as National Assembly member on March 03, he had resigned from the post of Finance Minister. But, Prime Minister Oli had reappointed him in the post amid the outcry from the party.

There is still a speculation that Prime Minister Oli would reappoint him either in the post of Finance Minister or finance advisor. Likewise, some have casted a doubt that he would be appointed as the Ambassador to US. He used to considered as the close confident of Prime Minister Oli.
