German Government Pledges To Provide Additional 1 Million Euro Grant To Fight Against COVID-19
  Kathmandu, Nepal      March 20 2020

Kathmandu, Nepal, March 21, 2020: The German government has pledged to provide additional 1 million euro grant to the Nepal government to respond to the emergency situations caused from the coronavirus (COVID-19).

The Embassy of Germany in Kathmandu has informed so by issuing a press statement on Friday. ‘Supporting partner countries’ epidemic preparedness has been a core part of German-supported health programming for decades. In times of COVID-19, this work is gaining in urgency, reads the statement issued by the embassy.

‘COVID-19 we are getting extra funds and extra work - no problem,’ the press statement signed by Dr Paul Rückert, Chief Technical Advisor of the Nepali-German Health Sector Support Programme (HSSP), states ‘our project’s focus is on health system digitalization and on specific request by our partners - on the responsible management of healthcare waste. Both are very much needed in times of COVID-19.
