Kathmandu, Nepal, September 20, 2022:The ‘undeclared border blockade’ imposed by the southern neighbor China has come to end after the recent high level visit of the Chinese officials in Nepal. However, Nepalese traders have yet to feel relief from the decision to lift the ban in the border.

Traders, particularly the clothing traders, have said that the decision has not provided relief to them. As Dhain festival and winter season are approaching nearer, they have a fear that they would not able to import clothing items for the season.

Though the China had been closing down one of the major two trading points with Nepal- Rasuwagadhi and Tatopani, it has decided to lift the ban allowing entering the containers in Nepal.

With the decision, about six dozen containers have already entered in Nepal and more than one hundred are in the process to enter after China agreed to lift the ban in the border.

During the recent Nepal visit, the Chairperson of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of China, Li Zhanshu had agreed to lift ban in the borders. During the meetings, Nepal requested China to open the transit points.
