KATHMANDU, NEPAL, Dec 17, 2025: Finance Minister Rameshwor Khanal has emphasized the urgent need to strengthen economic ties between Nepal and China, calling for a significant increase in bilateral investment to drive mutual growth.
Speaking on Tuesday at a high-level forum dedicated to Nepal-China cooperation and investment, Minister Khanal assured the international community that the Nepalese government has implemented robust economic reform schemes. These measures are specifically designed to create an environment where Chinese investors can mobilize their capital with stability and confidence.
"Nepal and China have a unique opportunity to enhance cooperation by identifying key investment sectors," the Minister stated. He added that pinpointing these strategic areas will not only benefit bilateral ties but also serve as a catalyst for attracting wider foreign direct investment (FDI) to the country.
Chinese Ambassador to Nepal, Chen Song, also addressed the gathering, reflecting on the multidimensional and long-standing relations between the two neighbors. He reaffirmed that China remains deeply interested in expanding its investment footprint in Nepal, specifically targeting three core pillars: industry, energy, and large-scale infrastructure development.
The forum concluded with a shared commitment to streamlining administrative processes and fostering a more integrated economic partnership as Nepal continues on its path toward sustainable development.
