Kathmandu, Nepal, September 9, 2020: The government has repealed its earlier decisions restricting the plotting and fragmentation of land. The Ministry of Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty (MoLMCP) has decided to open plotting and splitting of arable land, which was barred since August 2017.
The government’s decision to restrict the plotting and fragmentation of arable land had sparked criticism from different sectors. Not only the real estate agents and property developers but also the general public had been facing difficulties in splitting their land.
The government has made the decision to repeal the previous decisions at the time when Land Use Act is waiting cabinet approval for the processing. Local governments are authorized for the management of lands under the local Government Operation Act.
