Kathmandu, Nepal, November 15, 2019: Renowned entrepreneur Roop Jyoti has been released on court date on Friday.
Jyoti was released after the District Attorney Office, Kathmandu, ordered the Metropolitan Police Circle, Durbarmarg, to release him immediately in court date.
Jyoti was arrested on November 7 for his alleged involvement in the housing scam. His arrest was widely protested, particularly from the business community suspecting of politically influenced.
Responding to the case filed by Bikendra Krishna Malla, the Supreme Court (SC), the apex court of the country, had paved the way to arrest him for the interrogation.
In the writ, it was alleged that Jyoti did not provided house though he had paid a total of Rs 27.6 million in different installments for a house at Basbari, Budhanilakantha to Landmark Developers Private Limited.
Following the court order, Police had arrested Jyoti from the Tribhuvan International Airport while he was returning home from Singapore on November 7.
