Kathmandu, Nepal, September 1, 2022: Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN), the aviation regulatory body of Nepal has decided to bring the newly-constructed Gautam Buddha International Airport (GBIA) in Bhairahawa into full operation despite denial of some airlines companies.
The CAAN has directed to take off and land international chartered flights from the GBIA except of diplomatic chartered flights and flights by cargo airlines and the army. Earlier, all international chartered flights took place at the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA).
Similarly, one international flight every three flights at the TIA will have to be operated at the GBIA. The CAAN resorted to the move to bring the GBIA into full operation after the airport officially came into operation from May 16.
