Dibesh Pokhrel, stage name Arthur Gunn, has bagged the fifth runner-up title on American Idol on Sunday. The Nepal origin, 22 years old artist, Pokhrel has made the history by achieving the feat in the American Idol for the first time in the history of Nepal.
According to the judges, his unique performances and applause from the viewers helped him to win the coveted title. He stood in the position by losing the coveted title to Just Sam, a former subway singer, from New York.
Judge Luke Bryan, announced Pokhrel’s top fifth position terming him as ‘You’re a star, you’re authentic,’ ‘If there are any more like you in Kathmandu, please get on the phone and call them and tell them to come out next year,’ Luke Bryan said while apprising Pokhrel for his performance.
The song, 'Have You Ever Seen The Rain' by Creedence Clearwater Revival and 'I Don’t Want To Be' by Gavin DeGraw was sang by Pokhrel during the final round.
Raising star Pokhrel was born in Kathmandu and moved to Wichita six years ago. He was at the ‘American Idol’ auditions since last September.
In the contest, Just Sam was announced winner of American Idol. He was declared the 2020 season's champion after garnering the most real-time votes during Sunday night's finale. Other top fifth title winners include Martin, Dilan Jems and Jony of the American idol.
Due to the global pandemic of coronavirus (COVID-19) the reality shows were telecasted from home.
