Kathmandu, Nepal, April 10, 2014: Three candidates- Umesh Lal Shrestha, founder and managing director of Quest Pharmaceutical, Anjan Shrestha, executive director at Laxmi Group and Ram Chandra Sanghai of the Triveni Group are competing for the vice-president of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI), an umbrella organization of Nepalese private sectors.


As the election for the FNCCI’s executive committee is scheduled for Wednesday, election fever has gripped the private sectors.  The contenders of the vice-president are contesting in the elections by setting up their own panels and intensifying election campaign across the country. 

According to the charter of the FNCCI, the senior vice-president automatically becomes president at the end of the latter’s three-year term. 
 
As per the charter, current Senior Vice-President Chandra Dhakal will assume the post of president on April 16 when President Shekhar Golchha steps down completing his two years long tenure.

Beside of the three contenders for the post of senior vice-president, eight candidates are contesting for the three vice-presidential posts while altogether 108 candidates are contesting for the 60 posts of members.
