Suspected brown sugar worth Rs 5.14 crore seized in Manipur's Moreh

Guwahati, Sep 7 : Security forces had seized suspected brown sugar worth Rs 5.14 crore at Moreh town along Indo-Myanmar border in Manipur on Saturday evening.
According to the reports, after getting a specific input from a reliable source, the troops of Assam Rifles and Moreh police had jointly conducted search operation in National Highway 102 near key location point of Assam Rifles.
While checking a Maruti Suzuki Ertica Car bearing registration number MNO2 1409, security personnel had seized 198 package of suspected brown sugar from the vehicle.
The seized suspected brown sugar weighing about 2.574 kg which worth is Rs 5.14 crore in international market.
Security personnel had also apprehended the driver of the vehicle identified Lunkhongam Haokip and he along with seizure items were handed over to Moreh police station for further legal actions under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985.
