Two-day long North East Disability Summit starts in Guwahati

Guwahati, July 12 : To provide a common platform for the North East region to promote inclusive growth with reference to Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) in the region and to create awareness among all stakeholders including students, academicians, administrators, law and enforcement authorities, disability organizations etc in the region about the RPwD act, initiatives taken by the government at different levels, a 'North East Disability Summit' has been organized by the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment in Guwahati.

The two-day long summit along with loan mela and job mela has been started at the Auditorium of Gauhati University on Friday.

Shakuntala Doley Gamlin, Secretary of Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (Divyangjan), Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment of Government of India has inaugurated the summit on Friday.

Officials of both union and state government, different disability organizations, NGOs were present in the inaugural function.

Hundreds of PwDs were also present in the summit and it will be ended on July 13.
