Kathmandu, Nepal: With the registration of the constitution amendment bill in the parliament, the government allies have intensified consultations with the political parties present in the parliament particularly with the main opposition party, CPN UML and the fourth largest party Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP).
It is said that the government has planned to put the bill to vote on August 21. Earlier the government had planned to put the bill to vote for Wednesday.
But the plan to put the bill to vote was postponed Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba had called an all party meeting to seek parties’ support in the amendment bill.
The government has decided to put the bill to vote after few days with the aim to get support from the main opposition CPN UML.
Similarly, the Rastriya Prajatantra Party has also urged the government to put the constitution amendment bill to vote only after Sunday as the party has been waiting for the Election Commission’s decision about the legitimacy of the breakaway faction of the RPP.
Senor leader of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party had formed a separate party named the Rastriya Prajatantra Party Democratic by incorporating some leaders and lawmakers of the party.
The government had tabled the constitution amendment bill in the parliament responding to the demands of the agitating Rastriya Janata Party Nepal (RJPN) despite the protest from the UML.
