Chinese Ambassador Yanqi hands over 800,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccine

 Kathmandu, Nepal, March 29, 2021: Chinese Ambassador to Nepal, Hou Yanqi has handed over 800,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccine to Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli amid a function held at latter’s official resident, Baluwatar on Monday.

The Chinese government had on February 17 decided to donate 'Vero Cell' vaccine manufactured by Beijing Institute of Biological Products Co Ltd (BIBP), China, under Sinopharm, for emergency use against coronavirus (Covid-19).

The government had sent a wide body airbus 330 of Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC), to bring the donated vaccine from Beijing. The plane loaded with the vaccine and other heath essentials had landed earlier on Monday at Tribhuwan international Airport (TIA).  

While receiving the vaccine, Prime Minister Oli lauded China's contribution in fighting the COVID-19 pandemic and development activities in Nepal. During the function, Prime Minister Oli also expressed his hope to strengthen the bilateral relationship  

Addressing the same event, Chinese Ambassador Hou expressed her hope that the vaccine provided by China will help Nepal to overcome the COVID-19 pandemic at an early date.
