Kathmandu, Nepal, October 15, 2020: Coronavirus (COVID-19) infection tally has reached to 1, 21,745 after 3749 new cases recorded from across the country in the past 24 hours on Thursday.
According to the Ministry of Health and Population, among the newly infected cases 1,935 were from Kathmandu valley alone. With the new addition, total infection cases in Kathmandu valley alone has reached to 49,336.
Kathmandu valley has been turning into a hotspot for coronavirus infection since few weeks. Three districts of the Kathmandu valley covers about 50 percent out of total infected patients from across the country.
According to the Ministers, 3749 new cases were recorded from across the country in the past 24 hours while conducting 16,598 tests through the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) methods.
During the regular virtual press briefing, Dr. Jageshowr Gautam, Spokesperson for the ministry said that 3,564 persons, who had earlier tested positive for the virus, have returned home after recovery in the past 24 hours. With the new addition, total recovery cases have reached to 84,518.
As of Thursday, there are 36,533 active cases of coronavirus across the country while 4,825 persons are in quarantine.
Likewise, 12,339 people have been staying in isolation across the country, Spokesperson Gautam said during the virtual press briefing.
The death toll related to the coronavirus infection has reached to 694 after 19 fatalities related to the virus recorded in the past 24 hours.
