Kathmandu, Nepal, December 31, 2022: The government has requested the Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunizations (GAVI) to provide booster doses of COVID-19 vaccines.
Withstanding the increasing number of COVID-19 cases Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) has formally written a letter to the GAVI to bring 1.5 million COVID-19 vaccines for booster doses.
According to Sagar Dahal, head of the vaccination branch of the Family Welfare Division under the Department of Health Services, the letter written by the MoHP has already sent to GAVI through the Covax facility.
It is said that the government has started plan to bring the Pfizer vaccine to use for the booster doses only. The government has stopped vaccine drive due to the lack of vaccines. It is said that about two weeks would take to receive the vaccines.
