Nepal breaks the past records in coronavirus infection and death tally

Kathmandu, Nepal, May 3, 2021: Breaking its past records, Nepal has on Monday reported 7,388 new cases of coroanvirus infections from across the country. With the addition, coronavirus infection tally of the country has advanced to 343,418. On Sunday, Nepal had reported 7,137 newly cases breaking the past records.

Likewise, Nepal has broken the past records even in the death tally related to the coronavirus infection. According to the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP), 37 people succumbed to coronavirus in the past 24 hours. With the addition, death toll related to the coronavirus has advanced to 3,362.

Of the total newly infected cases, Kathmandu valley alone recorded 3666 new cases of coronavirus infection in the past 24 hours. Kathmandu district alone recorded 2,922 cases while Lalitpur and Bhaktapur districts reported 522 and 222 cases respectively, the MoHP has stated.

According to the MoHP, 2,021 people, who were earlier infected with the virus, have been discharged after recovery in the past 24 hours. With the addition, total recovery tally of the country has advanced to 286,015, which is equal to 83.3 percent.

There are currently 54,041 active cases across the country. Of them, only 212 individuals are staying in quarantine facilities across Nepal.

The MoHP has also stated that 17,176 total tests were conducted in the last 24 hours.  Of which 16,658 tests were conducted through PCR methods while 518 were conducted antigen tests. With this, a total of 2,521,164 PCR tests and 7,448 antigen tests have been carried out in Nepal till the date.
