Nepal coronavirus update: infection and death tally advanced to 413,111 and 4,084 after 9,483 and 225 cases reported respectively in the past 24 hours

Kathmandu, Nepal, May 11, 2021: Nepal has on Monday recorded highest number of coronavirus infection and death toll from across the country in the past 24 hours.

According to the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP), 9,483 new coronavirus infection cases and 225 deaths related to the virus have been recorded from across the country. 

This is the single day record high in both infection and death since the virus detected in the country. 

With the addition, nationwide infection count has advanced to 413,111 while death toll related to the coronavirus infection has advanced to 4,084.  

The MoHP has stated that 9,483 new infection cases were identified while conducting 20,596 PCR tests and 720 antigen tests in different labs across the country in the past 24 hours. Of the total tests, about fifty percent have been found positive of coronavirus infection. 

Of the total infected cases, Kathmandu Valley alone recorded 3,927 new cases of coronavirus infection. Of them, 2,788 were detected in Kathmandu district alone while 537 were in Bhaktapur and 602 were in Lalitpur districts, the MoHP has stated.

Likewise, 5,225 people, who were earlier infected with the virus, have been discharged after recovery in the past 24 hours.  With the addition, recovery tally of the country has advanced to 312,019, which is equivalent to 75.5 percent.

There are currently 97,008 active cases across the country. Of them, only 448 individuals are staying in various quarantine facilities across Nepal.
