Nepal Receives Booster Doses of COVID-19

Kathmandu, Nepal, February 20, 2023: Nepal has received additional installment of booster dose vaccines against COVID-19 on Monday. According to Dr Surendra Chaurasiya, chief of the Logistic Management Section under the Department of Health Services, 345,600 doses of vaccines have been received on Monday morning.

The vaccines received by Nepal were provided by the Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunization (GAVI) under the COVAX facility. The vaccines were transported to Nepal on an aircraft of the Qatar Airways.  

The Government of Germany had pledged to provide 1.5 million booster shots to Nepal. Of the pledged shots, over 1.3 million doses have been received so far. According to Chaurasiya, the remaining doses will arrive on February 23 and 27.
