Nepal’s coronavirus infection tally reached to 64,122

Kathmandu, Nepal, September 20, 2020: Nepal’s coronavirus infection tally reached to 64,122 after 1, 325 new cases recorded in the last 24 hours. Of them, 767 were from Kathmandu valley alone. 

Dr. Jageshwar Gautam, spokesperson for the Ministry of Health and Population, said during the regular virtual press briefing on Sunday that 1,325 new cases of coronavirus were detected while conducting 9,584 PCR tests at various labs across the country in the past 24 hours.

The new records of coronavirus infection indicate that Kathmandu valley has emerged as the new hotspot for coronavirus in recent days. The newly reported infection of coronavirus in the Kathmandu valley stands 57.88 per cent of the country’s total infection cases.

According to the spokesperson Gautam, 914,290 PCR tests for coronavirus have been carried out as of Sunday and 9,071 persons are in institutional isolation centers across the country.

Likewise, he also informed that 966 coronavirus patients have been discharged after recovery in the past 24 hours taking the country’s recovery tally to 46,233.

Similarly, the death toll due to the infection of coronavirus reached to 411 after 10 new deaths reported in the past 24 hours.
