Omicron XBB 1.16 Spreading In Nepal!

 Kathmandu, Nepal, March 3, 2023: Coronavirus infection cases have been gradually increasing in Nepal in recent days. Withstanding the spreading threats, the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) has issued a statement to aware people to be protected from the infection of the deadly virus. 


The new variant of the coronavirus, Omicron XBB 1.16 that has been found in the neighboring countries, has been leading to raise infection in Nepal as well, reads the statement issued by Joint spokesperson of the ministry, Dr Samir Kumar Adhikari on Monday. 

According to the MOHP, when 24 samples were tested in the past 24 hours on Monday, the Omicron XBB 1.16 variant was confirmed in all the 24 samples. 

In the statement, the Ministry has also called one and all for multi-sector support and coordination including vaccination and observing public health standards to prevent COVID-19 pandemic, which is still not fully under control.
