Kathmandu, Nepal, February 11 2020: The parents of the Nepali students, who are languishing in Wuhan City of China, from where the deadly coronavirus was detected first, have urged the Nepal government to evacuate their sons and daughters at the earliest.
The parents of the students, who have repeatedly been urging the government, organized a press conference o Monday to reiterate their urge. Speaking at a program in Kathmandu, parents demanded with the government to airlift their loved ones from coronavirus-hit China to Nepal without further delay.
It is estimated that about 180 Nepali students are languishing in the Wuhan City of Hubei province. The students have also already submitted applications at the Nepali Embassy in Beijing seeking evacuation. But, neither the Chinese embassy in Beijing nor the Nepal government has taken initiation to evacuate them.
It is said that the government is planning to send a Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) aircraft to Wuhan to evacuate Nepali students only on February 15. A meeting between the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation and the airlines on Monday decided to send an Airbus A330 to Hubei province of China on February 15.
The coronavirus, which was first detected in Wuhan City on December 31, 2019, has already spread to 22 provinces of China and 23 countries in the world. According to the reports, the death toll from coronavirus has reached 1,013 while over 42,500 people have been infected with the novel virus.
