Kathmandu, Nepal, June 5, 2023: World Environment Day is being celebrated across the world including in Nepal with various programs. The government has set a national slogan to celebrate this year's Environment Day as 'Let's eliminate plastic pollution, use environment-friendly alternatives'.
World Environment Day is being celebrated worldwide on June 5 every year since 1973 at the call of the United Nations Environment Programme.
Meanwhile, on the occasion of the World Environment Day, President Ramchandra Paudel has conveyed his greetings stating that we must pledge to make the constitutional right to live in a clean environment worthwhile.
"Today, we all must take a pledge to keep the environment around our homes clean and make the ecological relationship of forests, water, plants, agriculture and animals life-oriented and make meaningful the right to live in a clean environment provided by the Constitution of Nepal. It is necessary to make development environmentally friendly," President Paudel said in his greeting message on the occasion of World Environment Day.
While celebrating the World Environment Day with the slogan 'Eliminate plastic pollution, use environmentally friendly alternatives', President Paudel said in his greeting message that the unorganized and unscientific use of plastic polymers has become an environmental challenge. Loss of biological diversity along with increasing pollution has become a challenge.”
Expressing his belief that today will provide more enthusiasm to implement the issues and commitments made by Nepal in various international forums to reduce the impact of air, water and land pollution, President Paudel said that Nepal has adopted various national-level forest, environment and climate change policies for environmental protection and improvement.
